Fact: There is a lot of confusion surrounding the terms ADHD and ADD. ADHD and ADD are essentially the same thing. Sometimes people refer to ADHD when they are speaking in reference to a child who also has hyperactivity as part of their struggles, and the term ADD is sometimes used to refer to persons who are struggling with attention problems without hyperactivity. Although it is true that many persons with ADHD do struggle with hyperactivity, a person does not have to struggle with hyperactivity in order to diagnose ADHD. The terms are often used synonymously in medical literature.
